To change ur pc’s sound configuration here are the steps

1. Go to START
CONTROL PANEL
SOUNDS AND AUDIO DEVICES.

2.Here select the SOUNDS tab.

3. Here you can see a number of options below such as Asterisk, Critical stop, Start Windows, Exit Windows,etc.

4.Just click on the sound u want to edit and select the new sound u like.

5. One thing u need to keep in mind is that only sounds of .wav format can be added. So if u want an mp3 sound to be ur startup sound u will have to convert it into .wav

6.I would like to add one more point, avoid using longer sounds. It is advisable to use sounds which are less than 30secs for startup and around 10 secs for shutdown. Or u will have to wait for 30 secs for ur pc to shutdown.
